The Washington Capitals picked up a 4-2 preseason win over the Detroit Red Wings Wednesday night. But, the win may have come at a cost. Capitals forward T.J. Oshie exited the game in the second period after getting hit against the boards.

Oshie didn’t return to the game. He has an upper-body injury and will be re-evaluated on Thursday.
Capitals head coach Pete Laviolette relayed the severity of the injury, saying Oshie being removed from the game was not precautionary.
“He wasn’t coming back tonight,” Laviolette explained, per The Athletic’s Tarik El-Bashir.
The Capitals open the regular season next week on Oct. 12 against the Boston Bruins. All eyes will be on Oshie’s situation. Last season, a lower-body injury limited Oshie to 44 games. He had 25 points with 11 goals and 14 assists. Those were his lowest marks since joining the Capitals in 2015.
