Report: Saints Make First Cutdown Move, Waive Former Tulane Linebacker

NFL clubs must cut their rosters from as many as 90 players down to 53 by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Aug. 29. This is the first move for the Saints, who began Monday with a roster of 89 players following the departure of veteran wide receiver Bryan Edwards last week. 

Anderson had his best performance with the team during their 13-17 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday. He had 4 combined tackles and a pass defended on defense while adding a special teams tackle in kickoff coverage. The former Green Wave linebacker appeared for 27 snaps on defense and 43 snaps with various special teams units throughout the team's three preseason games.

The Saints could look to bring Anderson back on the practice squad after the initial roster is complete. He told local media that he also received interest from the Seattle Seahawks before ultimately choosing to return to New Orleans following the NFL draft. Which means that if the Saints want to keep him around, they may have to face some competition along the way.
