Open season: the Saints take down another flock of birds

In a storyline that would make Alfred Hitchcock proud , the New Orleans Saints took on a flock of birds on Sunday and won. Sunday's victory over the Seattle Seahawks is the Saints' second victory this season over a team with a bird for their mascot, which is notable because they're on a quest to eradicate all birds as they take on the "Bird Gauntlet" this season.

Because of scheduling, it's rare for a team to have the fortune of playing the Arizona Cardinals, Philadelphia Eagles, Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens and Seahawks all in one season. But heavy is the head that wears the crown, and the Saints have performed the task admirably, first coming back in a thrilling 27-26 victory over the Falcons in Week 1 and then riding the legs - and arm - of Taysom Hill to a 39-32 victory over the Seahawks this past Sunday.

The team plays in Arizona to kick off Week 7 and follows that with games against Baltimore at home on Monday night in Week 9 and on the road against Philadelphia in Week 17, as well as one more against division rival Atlanta. Baltimore is led by an early season frontrunner for MVP, Lamar Jackson, while Philadelphia sits as the NFL's last unbeaten team. With that in mind, Saints fans might want to hold off proclaiming themselves "King of the Birds" just yet.

The New Orleans Saints currently sit at 2-3 and in second place in the NFC South.
